Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | neutered | 12 years and 2 months old | 5 lbs
My dog has a red spot on his eye. I’m assuming he got it injured while playing outside. he doesn’t seem to be in pain (not reluctant to open eye) and is acting normal. I’m not sure if his eye will heal on its own or if I should bring him to the vet.

Hello, yes you definitely need to take him to your vet to get it checked, it's most likely a corneal ulcer, this can happen due to an injury or eye infection, often it can get worse and even cause blindness in that eye, it needs to be treated with special eye drops

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If you suspect that there could have been a traumatic injury to the eye and it looks irritated, I definitely recommend that you have Dolly evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. This could be secondary to a corneal laceration which needs to be treated as soon as possible. Good luck!
