My old cat is confused and can't walk. Is it a brain issue or seizure?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 3.8 lbs

My 13 year old cat had an episode 2 weeks ago where she temporarily lost her ability to walk properly, retract her claws and looked in her eyes as if she was confused and wasn’t seeing properly. We took her to the vet and they said she may have a tick but after that she returned to normal completely. Earlier this week and today she had similar episodes which makes it 3 times now. She doesn’t seem to be in pain but she is old and I wonder if it is some sort of brain disorder.

It sounds like she may be having seizure activity. Your vet could run a comprehensive blood panel to rule out metabolic and endocrine diseases. If the bloodwork is normal then it is likely an issue with her brain.
