My dog has a red mass near her nipple. Should I take her to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 7 years and 10 months old | 60 lbs

What do think the red mass near the nipple could be? We live on a cattle farm and the dog does come in contact with different critters from time to time. She does not seem to be experiencing any pain. Thanks for your help!

That looks like a tumor that needs to be seen by your vet, especially since it is so close to the nipples/mammary gland, and is irregular in shape and irritated. I would have Ginger seen by your vet and a sample of the tumor taken (or it removed completely and sent to a lab) to determine the cell type and any additional care needed.
