Why is my unneutered male cat peeing weird, yowling, and less cuddly?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 2 months old

My cat is a M Unneutered that just turned 1 in August. He recently has started to be little less receptive to pets and rubs that he usually likes, he still enjoys them and comes to me for them it’s just if I randomly approach him he doesn’t seem to really care as much. He also has been peeing more frequently than usual. His tail just started shaking when he pees and he now pees in a “zigzag” way, leaving zigzag like marks in the litter box. Hes active and eats. He also yowls randomly at night.

Hello, These sound like normal behaviors for an intact male cat- more independence, roaming, territory marking, and calling for a mate at night. You could have him neutered to overall reduce these behaviors if you find them unfavorable.
