My cat's eye is bothering him. Can I use a rinse or wait for the vet?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 10 lbs

Parker started pawing at his eye and squinting. He has an appt for the morning is that okay or should he go to emerge ? Is it safe to get cat eye rinse to see if there is debris ? Thank you

Hello. I am so sorry for your worries with Parker. It does look like the conjunctiva & third eyelid are a bit swollen, but the rest of the eye & cornea are very quiet. Unless Parker is very uncomfortable with his eye, & you are worried that by pawing he could do more harm, you can wait for his appointment in the morning. You just need to use your best judgement as to whether this can wait or not. I see no reason not to use a rinse approved for use in a cat's eye, but if it seems to irritate the eye more, then stop its use & just have Parker seen in the morning.
