Hello. I am so sorry for your concerns with Momo. The dark color of the stool does not overly concern me as this can reflect something he has eaten, but with the diarrhea, it may be something inflammatory in his intestines, or even parasites. If he has not been wormed in a while, I would have your veterinarian check his stool just to make sure. If everything is OK, your veterinarian may make some recommendations to address the diarrhea, including the possible use of antibiotics, probiotics or a dietary change. Best to you & Momo & thanks for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

Diarrhea can have many causes such as a problem with the stomach and intestines caused by a food oversensitivity, eating something that does not agree with your cat, intestinal parasites, an intestinal blockage, bacterial infection, viral infection, the weather, food change, stress, hyperthyroidism, kidney and liver disease. As you can see this is complicated and I suggest you take Big Kitty to your vet for a hands-on exam and some diagnostics to find out why he has diarrhea and to hopefully find the cause and treat it.
