My cat has dark poop and diarrhea for two days. Is this normal?

My cat is a 1 year old male. I am a bit worried since thw last 2 days his poop has been really dark and he has had some diarrhea although he always makes it to the litter box and is not constant. Pet's info: Cat | Nebelung | Male | neutered | 1 year and 1 month old | 10 lbs

Hello. I am so sorry for your concerns with Momo. The dark color of the stool does not overly concern me as this can reflect something he has eaten, but with the diarrhea, it may be something inflammatory in his intestines, or even parasites. If he has not been wormed in a while, I would have your veterinarian check his stool just to make sure. If everything is OK, your veterinarian may make some recommendations to address the diarrhea, including the possible use of antibiotics, probiotics or a dietary change.
