My dog's blood test has high PCT. What does this mean for her?

My dog recently had a blood test done to test her kidney function after surviving eating 16,000mg of Motrin Liquigels (Vomited multiple times prior to being found unconscious and hospitalized for 3 days). Today is her one week checkup after the incident, all prior tests concluded her kidney function was fine. Today the vet raised a slight concern over her blood work as her PCT was .51% with a cap of .46% on the high side of the scale. My question is was is PCT and should I be more concerned? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | 40.5 lbs

I’m glad to hear that Neeko’s kidneys have fared well despite what sounds like quite a scary situation! Her platelet count (PLT) looks perfect. The PDW and PCT counts give us information about her platelets’ sizes and distribution. Since Neeko’s platelet count is adequate, it’s possible that her body has been working hard to make new platelets, which are larger than older, mature platelets. Larger cells result in higher PCT numbers, which can make the PDW number a bit lower (more large new cells than smaller older cells). I wouldn’t think twice about these numbers given her recent illness, particularly considering that everything else has improved so much. I hope that everything continues to go well for Neeko!
