My parvo puppy isn't peeing after 24 hours of IV fluids. Is it normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My puppy was recently diagnosed with parvo, we started doing IV fluids at home, and I noticed he hasn't urinated since starting IV treatments, is that normal? We've been doing it for a little over 24 hrs now.

Hi and thanks for your request. This is indeed not normal and it is a quite concerning sign as with fluids kidneys MUST be able to produce urine in a physiological amount (1-2 mls/kg/hr). Please contact your local veterinarian.
