How to tell if my cat's surgical incision is healing correctly?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 2 years and 4 months old | 11 lbs

My cat had exploratory surgery done two days ago. I get very nervous with incisions, I caught him licking once and out a cone on him so he no longer could. Does the incision site look like it is healing properly??

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Oliver. The incision site appears slightly red in color. However, there is no discharge visible and I do not see areas that appear to be opening. I think that it is healing very well. Please keep the collar on him at all times to prevent any further licking. He should heal up very well. I hope this information helps!
