My cat licked her spay incision. Is dried blood normal 6 days later?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | spayed | 8 months and 4 days old

My cats spay incision was healing nicely until I noticed some dried blood on her incision line today (6 days post-spay). She is eating/drinking/toilet fine. Last night she managed to take off her cone while I was sleeping and she may have licked it. Is it normal for an incision to develop some new dry blood after 6 days as shown in the photo? The incision is 1cm in length and has no external stitches. (She vomited once a little yellow liquid the day before)

Hi there, it’s normal considering she has been able to groom it. However the good news is that the incision is not open so if you put the collar back on it should continue to heal well. Hope this helps !
