Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 67.3 lbs
I found this lump on my dog last Thursday and it seems like it's gotten a little bigger. It has a slight green tint in person. Any clue what it is or if I should be concerned? I need to know if I need to talk my dad into giving me vet money to get it treated if I can't fix it at home.

Apollo's raised, pigmented lesion could be due to several different possible causes. Some of the more common culprits include a cyst, benign mass, malignant mass, or granuloma. The lesion itself doesn't look irritated or inflamed, making more minor issues like insect bites or allergies less likely. The only way to differentiate between the possible causes of this lesion are with some diagnostic testing. After an exam, a vet typically would use a needle to draw out a few cells for microscopic evaluation. Based on those findings, they may recommend removal of the lesion, further testing, or may be able to treat it with some medication. Since this lesion is growing, I'd recommend getting it checked out sooner rather than later. Without knowing the cause, there simply isn't anything that's likely to be effective at home other than preventing Apollo from licking at it. If he's licking, be sure to use an e-collar (cone). I hope that everything goes well!
