My dog vomited white stringy things. Are they worms or parasites?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 6 years and 7 months old | 20 lbs

My dog vomited after eating, and when I went to wash it off the balcony, I noticed a BUNCH of these white things. There were way more than pictured but they were washed away already. He hadn’t eaten anything that resembled it. Does this look like parasites?

It's hard to tell from the photo, but if they are round and "spaghetti-like", they are probably roundworms. Most over the counter dewormers can take care of roundworms, however your vet can also prescribe deworming medications, and you can bring in a sample of them to your vet if needed to be identified in person.
