Romeo my Shih Tzu has get his anal glands expressed at least once a month due to them becoming full. He usually scoots. He’s not right now however does his anus or anal glands look swollen or does it look normal? He is pooping ok. He is playful and eating good. No redness or pus. Thanks . Photo included

It is very difficult to assess from the picture but they do not appear significantly swollen and the lack of any discomfort or difficulty toileting is all positive. A fibre based supplement such as glandex or profibre can be very helpful to promote good bowel movement and gland emptying and can prevent such issues.
