Why did my cat vomit green hairballs with a string? Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 9 lbs

In the span of 2 weeks my cat vomited twice, both were greenish and included hairballs. However the second time had a 4-5 inch string in it (from clothes) should I be concerned ?

Hello, You may have gotten very lucky and that was all that was in there. If not watch for any continued vomiting, difficulty/pain when pooping and any behavior changes (sleeping more, not wanting to eat, etc) those would indicate a need to got to the vet. They may want to do xrays at that point to see if there is evidence of any string caught in the intestine.
