My dog has eye bumps. Is it an impacted gland or something serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | English Springer Spaniel | Male | neutered | 6 years and 6 months old | 82 lbs

My dog has a bump on his eye, I believe in the past the vet said it was an impacted gland, looking into his eye lid though it goes back further to 2 other bumps? Is this consistent with the previous diagnosis or should he get it checked out sooner? Thank you

Hi and thanks for your request. It is very likely to be due to an impacted/obstructed meibomian gland, which could either resolve by itself or with some anti-inflammatory drops. Tumors are possible as well and only by a quick check up these could be differentiate clinically. I do not think there is any need for an earlier check.
