Why do my cat's ears have a red outline? Is it normal or serious?

I noticed that both of my cats ears had a red outline to them. He doesn’t paw at them often or anything more than normal. Curious as to what it is and how to treat. Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | neutered | 2 years and 2 months old | 11 lbs
