How do I know when my dog's chew is too worn or unsafe to use?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Male | neutered | 2 years and 1 month old | 36 lbs

My dog has this (vet approved) chew, but don’t know if it’s time to take it away based on how it looks. What do I look for in terms of condition of the chew to help me decide it’s unsafe? For reference, it is the Petstages Deerhorn.

Hello. As long as Murphy does not chew this to a point that it is small enough to swallow, then he can continue to enjoy this. However, if you notice blood on the product, then I would take it away from him. Thanks for contacting JustAnswer.
