Why does my puppy have a soft, fluid-filled blister on his penis?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 9 days old | 13 lbs

I just noticed this blister on the shaft of my 10 week old puppy’s penis. It is soft and fluid filled. He flinched when I touched it. This is new. He is up-to-date on his immunizations and is being treated for coccidia. He licks a lot. Thanks for your help.

This lump/bump/growth should be ideally examined by your local vet to have a diagnosis established. Your vet may want to perform an FNA (fine needle aspiration) or a biopsy to sample the bump and determine its underlying nature. Differentials would include skin cysts, the result of an acute allergic reaction, infections, benign type of tumors. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking.
