Pet's info: Small Animal | Guinea Pig | Female | unspayed | 2.8 lbs
Does this appear to be the start of a cataract? She’s a 5.5 year old female guinea pig. There is no damage to the eye, it’s definitely not on the cornea, but the lens. No discharge, nothing like that. It’s just a small white dot and a small bit of haze around it. From my research it fits the description of a posterior polar cataract.

Hi and thanks for your request. Unfortunately it is not possible to provide a specific answer in this case as this would require an ophthalmoscopic examination at your local veterinarian with an direct ophthalmoscope or a slit lamp. Vitreal opacities can often be confused with cataracts.
