My 8-week golden retriever puppy has bumps on belly near penis. Vet visit?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 6 days old | 7 lbs

We recently got a golden retriever pup (8wks old) and he has some bumps on his belly around his penis. They don't seem to bother him as he hasn't scratched or complained. Don't really know but seems they haven't changed much in last 24 hrs. I suspect we need a vet visit?

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Yes, a visit at your local vets is definitely recommended to find out what is going on with Cooper. These bumps could be due to allergic reaction, small abscesses, hair follicle infections and more. Your vet should be able to make the diagnosis during clinical examination and will recommend best treatment for your puppy.
