My active dog just got spayed. Is her incision normal after 2 days?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 1 year and 4 months old | 7 lbs

My chihuahua mix just got spayed 2 days ago. I’ve kept her in her kennel for the most part with a cone or sometimes a onesie that I got on Amazon. She is acting normal, nothing out of the ordinary. Only thing is she is a very active dog so as much I try to keep her still in her kennel she still moves around a lot inside. I’m just wondering if her incision looks normal or if I should be worried and take her in to see a vet?

That looks pretty good for two days post spay. Keep doing what you're doing for another ten days or so and then she can be a normal dog again. If it gets red, hot, starts seeping or bleeding, or if she stops eating or acts sick in any way, get her rechecked by your vet right away.
