My pet turtle escaped into our pond. Can he survive on his own?

My pet turtle who I saved from birds as a baby and had for a year, ran away from the enclosed area I had him in outside while I was cleaning his tank. Mom thinks he went into our pond. Will he be ok? Pet's info: Reptile | Aquatic Turtle | Male | 1 year and 1 month old | 3 lbs

I am sorry you lost Scoob for now but I am sure you will see him again. Reptiles have very strong instincts and do not really have to learn to be “wild” so he should be fine. Keep an eye out whenever it is sunny and you will eventually see him sunning himself when he is no longer nervous about his new home.
