Pet's info: Cat | Manx | Male | neutered | 7 years and 1 month old
We have a Manx cat that is about 6yrs old. He's been pretty healthy his whole life besides being over weight. In the last couple of weeks, there has been 2 or 3 instances where he acts like one of his back legs is hurt. He will whine loudly when trying to stand from a laying position, then lay back down. After about 2-3hrs he is back to being just fine. Any ideas what could be bothering him? Something coming out of joint possibly?

Hello there, I'm sorry to hear that Alex is acting painful like this. Cats are generally very skilled at hiding their pain, so this definitely warrants some kind of regular pain management. Manx cats are predisposed to spinal disease and orthopedic pain, especially the overweight ones. I recommend getting Alex to his veterinarian this week for a physical exam and talk about pain medications to help him live more comfortably. They may recommend x-rays and bloodwork to better investigate what is going on and what medications will be best for him. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck to you and Alex.
