What's this under my dog's fur? Is it a tick, scab, or lump?

Ho, I'm not sure if this is some kind of tick or something else. I first thought it was a scab but not that I took away the fur I'm not so sure.

Hello. I do not think this is a tick, so it could be a scab. It could also be a small skin tumor, so if this does not seem to be healing over the next couple of days, it would be best to let your veterinarian take a look. It is sometimes very difficult to diagnose something from just a picture, but a quick visit with your veterinarian can confirm exactly what this is.     Thank you for the picture, it's very helpful. It looks like a scab, and it may be from an injury. In the picture, the skin doesn't look infected and I don't see any concerning signs. I'd just keep an eye on it for now and if it does appear infected, then you should have Molly seen by a vet. I hope this helps!

That looks more like a scab than a tick. Examine the area closely. If it's a tick, you will be able to see 8 tiny legs (4 on each side). If it's a scab, hair will be attached to the lesion. Look online at pictures of attached ticks. If you are still not sure, run Lucy by the vet's office. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Hi there. Thank you for using Boop by Petco. It is definitely a scab but from what, I don't know. This could be from trauma, an insect bite (like a tick) or the start of a skin infection. Unfortunately there is no way to tell for sure. I wouldn't be overly worried at this stage. Personally, if Buffy were my dog, I would just leave it alone and monitor it. But, if you want to do something at home, you can apply a thin layer of an antibiotic ointment over it twice a day. If it doesn't heal or it looks worse at any stage then get him to your vet for an exam. Hope this helps. Best wishes!

Jake has this on his neck, I’m assuming it’s a scab from when he had his hair cut Tuesday but It is quite raised! I’m worried it might be a tick? Apologies for the bad quality but what do you think it is?
This does not look like a tick. I would observe it and wait until the scab falls off by itself. This lesion should then be healed. If the scab increases in size or the lesion increases in size, you should have a vet examine it..

Is this a tick, cancer? Anything bad?
Thank you for contacting Pet Coach with your question about Zoe! From the picture, it doesn't appear to be a tick. This could be a nipple that is irritated, but without knowing where this is located, I can't say that for certain. It could also be a benign tumor or a malignant tumor. Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of its cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the cause of the lump is diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment options if needed. I'd give her vet a call in the morning to make an appointment for her. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

My 2 year old dog has a scab-like thing on her back, under the fur. It's about the size of a jelly bean and it is black.
Lesions like this can be a few things including a healing wound, a skin tumor, an enlarged pore or a keratin horn. If this is a healing wound, you do not want to disturb it or it will delay healing. I recommend to check the area daily for the next 2 weeks. Skin wounds heal in 7-14 days so if the lesion is still present at that point, I recommend to have Lily Kate examined. Starting Lily Kate on an oral omega 3 fatty acid supplement may help to improve the over all condition of her skin but it may not change anything about the lesion. A skin tumor will need an aspirate to determine if it is cancerous or not, the other conditions require medical management or surgical removal to heal them. Make sure to protect the area from any licking or scratching. She may need to wear a shirt or an elizabethan collar (if she can reach the area to lick). Hello! It's difficult to tell for sure, but what I think I'm seeing in the photo is a nipple towards the upper left aspect of the photo, and an oval yellowish area below - I'm guessing that's where you believe the tick was removed? It is very common for dogs to get a small hard scab where a tick was removed, and as long as that scab is not red, inflamed, and has no discharge, it typically resolves on its own. Dogs do not get the stereotypical "bulls-eye" lesion that we watch for in humans to indicate Lyme disease exposure. However, if the lesion in question is that yellowish oval area, that would not be a normal response to a tick bite, and I would have that checked out by a vet. Your vet will be able to look at the lump and determine how concerned they are, and they will likely want to take a small sample with a needle to look at the cells in the microscope (cytology) to determine what is causing the lump. Does this look like a tick bite?
This appears to be a localized wound with a lot of surrounding inflammation and a scab on top. It is hard to say whether or not it is from a tick bite or some other type of injury/puncture wound. If you found a tick on your dog in this area then yes, it is most likely from a tick bite and should resolve within a few days. I would recommend gently cleansing the area with the warm washcloth and applying some triple antibiotic ointment to it to help it heal. If it does not go away within a couple of days, gets larger or more irritated, or if you notice other spots pop up, then I would recommend taking your dog to the vet to have it checked out. I have found several scabs on my dogs neck and body. What are these———————————————— Pictures below, I know it’s not a tick I don’t see any legs and there is hair in the scab
This looks like a scab. He could have gotten this after a little bug bite, a local skin infection, a minor injury from being in the yard, or something else. Since it is so small, I would not be too concerned right now. If it isn't healing, you see discharge, you find more spots, or this spot gets larger, I would have your vet take a look at it to see if he needs any oral meds or other treatment to help it heal. There is a little bump on my dogs head. I was trying to search for whatever it was, but her fur was covering it. I'm not sure if it is a growth, tick, or a cancerous growth. She is acting like herself, which is good. What do you think it could be?
There are many possible causes for the bump on Luna's head. It could be something as simple as an insect bite that has caused a little area of inflammation. We could have something like a tumor as well. There are different types of tumors, and many tumors of the skin are benign (meaning they do not cause the animal problems or spread elsewhere and require no treatment) such as sebaceous adenomas, while others are more concerning. You may need to shave the fur over the area to be able to see it better. Usually a tick is obvious because you can see its legs and shiny/smoother appearance. If the area is bothering your dog, or it is not resolved in a few weeks or is increasing in size then a visit to your vet is in order.

Hello. My 10yo dog chrlie she has small harmless lumps. But just spotted this one. Is it a tick????
While hard to say without seeing her in person, this does not have the appearance of a tick and looks more like a small skin growth. Ticks are usually dark in color, black/brown/maroon and once full of blood can have a pale grey appearance.
