Pet's info: Cat | Maine Coon | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 13 days old | 3 lbs
My new kitten is about 10 weeks old, will be coming home in about 4 weeks. The kitten has a slight bulge on his tummy, vet says he cannot detect a hernia, like a thinner muscle in that spot, said he could shore up with some stitches. But would neuter him at the same time. I would like to keep him intact until much later for him develop his endocrine system. Will he most likely grow out of this? His litter was large so all the kits were a bit slower in initial growth. but catching up quickly.

Hello. At this time, we generally do not recommend keeping a male cat intact for an extended amount of time, because if he starts spraying at puberty, it is very difficult to break this habit. If your veterinarian is not detecting a rent in the abdominal wall, then see how he develops over the next couple of months & consider neutering him around 5-6 months of age. If the area concerns you, your veterinarian can consider a repair at the time of neutering. Thanks for contacting JustAnswer.
