My dog has MCT. Is Palladia safe for my family given our lifestyle?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 9 years and 10 months old | 56 lbs

Tsunami has MCT grade II,- High Grade (kiupel system) Mitiotic count greater than 30. Vet called with test result to start Palladia. I sleep with her on my arm for 10 years, my husband eat with her and we have one younger dog. Both live inside and outside, I may not know where Tsunami pee and poo. It is impossible for me to minimize physical contact with Tsunami. Is it safe for us to use Palladia? Should I consider Steroid, better for our life style? Please advise.

I am sorry to hear of Tsunami's diagnosis and although paladia could theoretically be a good treatment choice it does not sound like it would be a good fit for her lifestyle. The serious restrictions required for safe use could be very stressful both for her and your family and yes, discussion of safer alternatives with her primary treating vet or oncologist would be a very responsible course to take. Even though treatment may not be as successful, a full assessment of benefits and risks is warranted for the safety of everyone in your household
