Elderly husky's bleeding ribcage mass reappeared. Is it cancer?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Male | unneutered | 13 years and 11 months old | 70 lbs

Elderly husky, left ribcage area bleeding mass. He had one similar a few years ago, it went away but recently reappeared. He is an outdoor dog, so we have been trying our best to keep it clean. I initially thought it looks like a cancerous growth, any thoughts? Thank you.

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It looks like a cancerous growth indeed. It is also infected and /or badly scratched. Timber needs to be seen by your local vets as soon as possible as the mass is potentially painful and can be a source of systemic infection. Please, call your vets and book an appointment for Timber today.
