My dog has a cut or scratch on her leg. Should I cover it to prevent infection?

My dog got a cut/scratch on her leg. I know I need to clean it but does it need to be cover to prevent infection?

Hello, thank you for your question about Lilo. Based on your description and the photo provided I would not recommend covering the scratch. Bandages can hold in moisture and lead to secondary infections. Cleaning it and using an antibiotic ointment will help prevent infection and help the scratch heal. If you notice any swelling, discharge, or increased redness from the scratch I would recommend having Lilo seen by a veterinarian for further evaluation. Hope this helps!
