My cats are drooling but seem fine. Could my new air freshener be why?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Both of my cats are drooling. They are otherwise acting totally normally. They are not lethargic, they’ve both eaten and drank water normally. Breathing is normal, litter boxes are normal, no diarrhea or blood. It started yesterday after I opened a new air freshener. Could that be the cause?

It’s quite possible, cats can be really sensitive to scents. If they both started drooling at the same time, then I would suspect an environmental cause. So a strong scent, or something they could have licked or eaten. Some houseplants will cause drooling. You can rinse their mouths out with water to help, but if it doesn’t improve in 24 hours, they should get checked out by a vet.
