My dog has a bleeding bump on her neck. Does she need a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Bichon Frise | Female | unspayed | 5 years and 2 months old | 15 lbs

My dog has a little bump on her neck and I am just curious to what it might be and if it needs a clinic visit. It is only 1 lump, when I first noticed it was about 2 weeks ago and at first I thought it was just something stuck to her or like a pimple and was messing with it till it started bleeding a little. The pic is what it looks like after the bleeding and was taken 5 minutes before writing this. Appreciate any help

It could be a little skin tag or wart. I recommend keeping an eye on it and take her to the vet if it abruptly changes size, color, texture, etc., as this can be a sign that it should be removed. The next time she is in for a routine visit, show it to your vet so they can assess it and determine if it should be removed.
