Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | spayed | 1 year and 9 months old
My cat is frequently urinating in her litterbox about 7-8 times a day or more. She is eating, drinking water and pooping normally. She hasn’t shown any sign of sickness (still very active and playful). After each visit to the litterbox she cleans her butthole immediately. I’ve changed her dry food 2 weeks ago to a new brand then Switched back to the regular one 2 days ago. I’m not sure if it’s normal or not but today is the 3rd or 4th day. I’d appreciate if you could help out, Thanks

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. These symptoms could be due to stress, bladder infection or bladder crystals / stones. The best way to distinguish between these problems is urine analysis. You should try and catch urine sample (you can remove the litter from the tray or put just shredded newspaper instead of the litter) and collect urine sample once Batta urinates. Alternatively, your local vet should be able to collect the sample at the clinic. Stress-induced cystitis can be triggered by changing the diet, so it is possible that frequent urination in Batta is due to stress. Changing the diet back to the previous one should solve the problem, if that is the case.
