My pug has an eyelid bump that changed color. Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Female | spayed | 23 lbs

My pug has a bump on her eyelid - yesterday it was more white and looked pus-filled, but today it looks more red. I am trying to determine if she should see the vet or if I should just monitor it to see if it grows. It doesn’t seem to be bothering her. thank you!

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It looks like local skin infection. It is very close to the eye and there is a risk that Milly may injure the eye while trying to rub or scratch it once it gets bigger. Therefore, I would suggest to get her checked by your local vets. Milly will likely be prescribed an antiseptic skin ointment / cream and the bump will hopefully go away in the next few days.
