Dog gagged after leash yank. Could his neck have long-term damage?

A car zoomed in real fast and almost hit my dog. I did a knee jerk reaction where I yanked his leash too hard and he ended up gagging out saliva. I feel so guilty and bad. Will there be any long term damage to his neck? Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 6 days old | 54 lbs

Hi and thanks for your request. This is very difficult to determine without seeing your dog through a physical examination. To be on the safe I would recommend a check up at your local veterinarian as soon as you can.
