My dog has a raised bump near his neuter incision. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 7 months and 22 days old | 51 lbs

I already asked about Moose’s incision site but now I’m anxious because he will no longer let me roll him over with a belly rub to check it. I’m worried this means it hurts him. I was able to roll him over and get a picture and there seems to be a raised bump. Is this normal? I’m planning on taking him to his vet based on your answer. I also think I’m overreacting so thank you for your response!

The wound looks quite dry and not inflamed so I do not see any need to take Moose to your local veterinarian right now. Please keep in touch with us. I think the lump is just a reaction to stitches which will resolve slowly in the next weeks.
