My dog ate a raw bone and hasn't pooped in 48 hours. Is he blocked?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 55 lbs

My husband gave my dog a raw, uncooked bone with some meat on it. I dont believe he has pooped in 48 hrs now. He is eatting and drinking normally, when i push on his belly it feels normal and he does not whine or wince and he is still active. I am worried about the constipation and possible obstruction from the bone.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Constipation is pretty uncommon in dogs, so the bigger concern would be an obstruction, or a GI upset from raw meat (such as diarrhea or pancreatitis). Fortunately, raw bones are quite digestible in the stomach and often pass without incident. Monitor Bayliss closely for a decreased appetite, vomiting, or lethargy. As long as he is eating normally without vomiting, I am not worried about obstruction. However, if he shows any symptoms of lethargy, inappetance, or vomiting then a vet visit is appropriate. Hope this helps!
