My dog was attacked, nose bled, seems fine. Emergency vet needed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkipoo | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 2 months old | 8 lbs

My yorkiepoo just got attacked by another dog. It was a very brief altercation and I was able to get to her really quickly. When I picked her up, she was bleeding from her nose. The bleeding stopped pretty quickly once I got her inside and applied some pressure with a cold washcloth. She seems fine and has no other injuries. Is there anything else I should do? Should I rush her to an emergency vet or any symptoms I should monitor for?

Keep an eye on her and call your vet in the morning in case she does need to be seen. She may feel worse tomorrow because of being sore, but it's still a good idea to get her checked, especially if the other dog was larger and got a good bite in or shook her.
