Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 7 years and 2 months old | 5 lbs
My cat is 7 years old and very skinny. I took her to the vet in my town and she weighed 5lbs. They gave her food (hills), but it didn't make her gain weight at all. She always seems cold and walking to her seems very uncomfortable. (I also should mention that I rescued her in December 2020 from someone who had her declawed and wasn't giving her the love she craves). What should I do to make her more comfortable? My vet wants me to tell him what to do/test for, but I have no idea.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Chica. I recommend that she has bloodwork and urine testing done soon to check for diseases that could be making her so skinny. For example, thyroid disease is a common cause of weight. Diabetes can cause the same to occur. Other cats can have kidney disease. I would also recommend testing her pancreatitis. This can be done with the bloodwork. Fecal testing to rule out parasites can he helpful as well. This is especially important if she goes outdoors. I hope this information helps!
