My dog struggles to take pills; her mouth won't open wide. What to do?

Question

Need tips administering a pill to a distemper survivor. She can't open her mouth wide. I use a pill popper and it is a struggle. The pill comes out before it is "popped" and she spits it out. It takes 5 times to get it swallowed. Same struggle if I liquify it first. Can't hide it in food. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 23 lbs

Unfortunately, if you cannot get medications in to her then you need to ask your vet if there is an injectable, transdermal or melt-away equivalent. Many drugs these days can be compounded into these formulations. Talk to your vet about this- RoadRunner and Wedgewood Pharmacies are the best at making alternative medication dosing systems.
