Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 9 days old | 20 lbs

My 4 month old pit Bull has a cyst on his right paw, in between his toes. The cyst was noticed a couple of weeks ago and we where going to take him to the vet till we started noticing the cyst was getting smaller, so we left it alone and cleaned it sometimes. I noticed that the cyst tend to get redder and more inflamed when he spends a long time out in the snow. It tend to very a lot in size, sometimes it’s small then sometimes is starts getting big. I want to know how to get rid of it.

It's possible the snow is causing irritation, which is leading to the increase in swelling/redness of the area. If you can, putting doggie boots such as mukluks on King before going out in the snow can help protect his feet and may reduce irritation. An Elizabethan (cone) collar and keeping the foot as clean and dry as possible can also help reduce inflammation and keep bacteria from getting into the area. If the cyst still doesn't completely heal even with the above steps, a vet visit is best to have the area looked at, biopsied if needed, and treated with any antibiotics or other medications.
