Cat has red bald spot after new food. Should I apply medicine?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 4 years and 8 months old | 8.82 lbs

Hello, I feed my cat turkey pate for months because it's the only one she likes but this week I wanted her to try other foods. After 2 days I noticed the red bald spot in the photo appeared on her back leg. It has to be the food because she is never going outside the house, does not have contact with birds or animals, she does not have fleas or lice. I am feeding her turkey pate again. Should I give her medicine or apply something locally until I can see a vet on Monday? Thank you

I see what you mean about Kitty. Because you don't know what caused it, I would not give her any medication or apply anything to it. She will just lick off any medication you apply topically, which isn't good for her. The vet can prescribe what is needed to treat it safely. Best of luck.
