Why is there brown goo that looks like blood on my dog's diaper?

Pet's info: Dog | Maltipoo | Female | spayed | 18 years and 2 months old | 11 lbs

My dog wears diapers and today I found a bit of brown goo, what looked like to be blood, on her genital. My dad said when he changed her that he didn’t notice anything other than pee on her diaper, and she is not secreting it either. There is no leakage that I can see either. I’m not sure what it could be. She is eating normally and drinking water as usual. Any ideas of what it could be?

I see what you mean in the picture. It doesn't look like blood to me, but it could be when you look closer. It may be Brandy has a little blood in her poop, which could be due to a stomach illness or eating something rotten. It could also be an indication of an anal sac issue. Given that it's quite a small amount and she is otherwise normal, I'd keep an eye on her for now. If she keeps having this in her diaper, then I would have it checked out by a vet. Small amounts of red to brown blood in the stool is not necessarily something to be extremely concerned about. Some simple irritating somewhere in the gastrointestinal tract could easily be the cause for such a finding. If you had said that the feces was tarry or black in color, I would be more concerned about something like a gastric ulcer, which could be caused by the Novox. As long as the bleeding isn't something that you would characterize as excessive, I would just continue to monitor for increases and perhaps bring a fecal sample into your vet for parasitic analysis. Hope this makes sense.

It's worth getting it checked out with your vet, in case he has picked up an intestinal parasite or has some irritation in his lower GI tract. That the blood is red means it's fresh, therefore being shed very low in the GI tract or his rectum or anus. It may be anal glands that are inflamed, there are a few possibilities. Your vet will do an exam, some labwork, and based on these results will be better able tot ell you what is going on and the best treatment options for your dog.

What could blood in the stool mean for a small mix-breed dog - particularly poodle/bichon?
This could mean she ate something that has given her diarrhea, or she has parasites or bacterial overgrowth, or has irritated her rectum with continued straining to have a bowel movement. If she is not vomiting, and seems normal otherwise, you can continue to monitor her. If she develops severe diarrhea, or vomiting, or the bloody stool continues you need to take her in for an exam and fecal tests like float/smear to evaluate what is going on.

Noticed few blood drops near anal region twice this week. Prior to that occasionally stinky fluid used to ooze from anus. Vet had suggested to clean anal gland every 15 days. Her liquid intake is really good, also daily fibre intake and exercises too
I would recommend checking a stool sample for parasites in a younger dog. Blood dripping from the rectum is not normal and should be addressed soon. I would ask your vet to do a rectal exam and check the anal glands. They could be infected or impacted and need medications to resolve this issue. However viruses can also cause bloody stool. A vet exam is best option. hope that helps

Is this blood feels kinda waxy or could this be something she has eaten? Second day of it
It is hard to know for sure based on a picture but it doesn’t look like blood to me and is probably something that she ate. You could feed her a bland diet of boiled chicken and white rice for the next few days and monitor her closely. Have her examined by your vet if it continues or you notice any lethargy or decreased appetite.

Yes, that appears to be a tinge of blood. I would not consider this life threatening or an emergency however, I think you should have him checked out by your vet in the next week or two. They need to do a thorough exam including a rectal exam and fecal test. The most common cause for blood in the stool in a young dog like Bruno would be parasites. That being said, it could also be dietary related, an allergy or any number of things that I think may be less likely in a dog his age. Is this color of his potty is ok or it has blood or what? Ian attaching photos and he is active in playing and eating and in all way so why he has this kinda color of poopwhat does this indicate?
From the picture it does not look like there is blood in Bruno's stool. The stool does look a little loose/unformed which could indicate colitis. Colitis is an inflammation of the colon and could be caused by many different things such as intestinal parasites, inflammatory bowel disease or a food allergy/intolerance. Severe diarrhea can cause weight loss, malnutrition and dehydration. I would recommend having a fecal performed at your vet to rule out intestinal parasites. If the diarrhea becomes worse then you may need to bring Bruno in to be evaluated. He may need a diet change or antibiotics or probiotics to help clear up the soft stools.

If you are sure the bloody mucous is coming from Daisy's anal glands then it is likely she has an anal gland infection. Usually these require veterinary care to treat so if you continue to see blood you should have Daisy examined by a veterinarian. Antibiotics and an anal gland flushing may be necessary to treat. You can try offering Daisy some canned pumpkin to soften her stool a bit and make passing stool less uncomfortable and use an ecollar to prevent licking. Unable to think of anything lola would have consumed that would cause this color. No blueberries were consumed. Does this look like blood?
Thank you for submitting your question regarding Lola. The coloring of her feces does not appear to be blood. If she is acting normal, I would monitor her next bowel movement closely. If diarrhea develops or the stool begins to contain mucus or obvious traces of blood (blood in the stool is frequently more liquidy), then she should see her veterinarian. My dog had shots and her glands expressed on friday. Yesterday day a delivery today my husbad saw maroon colored sploches on her poop. Is this normal?
No, this isn't normal, and it sounds like Carmel may have some blood in her feces. It could be caused by intestinal worms, eating something rotten, trauma to her GI tract, or a foreign body among other causes. As long as Carmel is eating and drinking normally, and is behaving normally, you can wait to take her into the vet in the morning. If she's vomiting, having diarrhea, lethargic, and doesn't want to eat or drink, I would have her seen by a vet immediately. The vet can diagnose what is causing the blood in her feces, and can treat her for it.
