Dog's eye teary and pus after fight. What should I do at home?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 9 years and 1 month old | 110 lbs

Hello. My dog got into a fight in his daycare. When I picked him up, his left eye seems teary and has pus. I can't pinpoint where the exact cut is, though. What can I give him?

Poor Big Mac! The conjunctiva looks quite red and swollen, and I’m worried there could be damage to the cornea as well. The pus indicates infection. Unfortunately this cannot be treated at home and any eye problem is an emergency. That’s because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Please take him into a vet now to get this treated. For the past two days my dog’s eye has been this way and when we clean it up it comes back pretty quickly. Does this require immediate attention?
Purulent diacharge (pus), can be associated with infections, allergic inflammation, or even injury like a scratch to the cornea. I would encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian soon, (next day or so), but it may not be an emergency (next few hours). Best of luck and I hope he improves soon. What can i do about eye puss ?
That is likely to be due to a mild to moderate conjunctivitis, probably secondary to a trauma or infection. A check up would be needed as appropriate treatment would include antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops. Corneal injuries must be ruled out as well. My 5 year old Bernese Mountain has developed an unusually red eye that is typically clear. It is almost as if her third eyelid is visible now & it was not before. Any idea on what this condition might be? No known injury as she is typically an indoor
I agree that Macie's eye looks very red! This can be a sign of an eye infection as well as trauma to the eye or allergies. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would take her into a vet today or first thing in the morning so her eye can be examined, diagnosed, and treated. Good luck, I hope this helps!

What is happening to his eyes? What medicine should we give him? He is a street dog. I'm able to see something like puss in eye and he is unable to see from that eye.

Poor Blacky. If at all possible, Blacky needs to go to an emergency clinic right now. This could be as minor as a skin scrap, or as severe as a ruptured eyeball. If you are unable to get to an emergency clinic, use a warm wash cloth to clean off his face and get to a vet as soon as possible if he's squinting or his eye looks odd in any way. Eye issues are almost always very painful and can result in blindness if not treated very quickly. Good luck! I hope Blacky is feeling better soon. my shitzus eyes are red on the inside and have green puss all around them, he refuses to open them and has been lazier then usual and not acting like himself. Seems as if he has an eye infection, both eyes!...What can i do for him or what should i do
Until you can get to the veterinarian, you can warm compress the eyes the alleviate some of the discomfort and remove some of the discharge. Let the moist warmth loosen the discharge and vet gently rub it away. A vet needs to look at the eyes and make sure that your dog is making enough tears. Lack of tear production can cause problems with the eyes. Also, your vet needs to check for ulcers and also check the pressure for glaucoma. Go to the vet as soon as is possible. Consider going to the ER of you think your pet is in a great deal of pain.

My dogs eyes are extremely red. They have been draining pus for months now. He's not acting himself. He's miserable. I cannot afford veterinary
Your dog likely either has an eye infection or allergic conjunctivitis. Taking him to the vet to have the eyes checked out is probably the best thing you can do. If you are unable to do this you could try an over the counter antihistamine and flushing the eyes with eye wash and see if this helps.

He has pus under his eyes, yesterday it was covering his right eye... it's runny-ish yellow but this morning ain't as bad as last night
Thank you for submitting your question regarding your dog. He will need to see his veterinarian. I am concerned that he has an eye infection. He may require an antibiotic ointment or drop. Depending on his exam findings, eye tests may be recommended to ensure that he does not have another condition such as decreased tear production, a scratch on the surface of the eye or an immune condition. In the meantime, keep his eyes clean and do not allow him to paw at them. I hope this information helps!

my dog has a pus pocket under her eye that that wont heal what do I do?
You'll need to have Missy examined by your veterinarian. It may be local infection that abscessed or it may be a tooth root abscess. She may need to have it lanced, drained and flushed or she may need a complete dental cleaning and possibly an extraction. Antibiotics and pain management will likely be required as well. This is probably not something that can be treated at home nor will it heal on its own.

It certainly looks as though Chavo has somehow irritated his eye and likely has continued to rub it causing more irritation. My biggest concern would be that he has scratched his cornea (the outermost surface if his eye) which can be a very painful condition and can lead to infection. There is also a chance that the irritation and discharge is just from allergies, this would be the best case scenario. Since you are unable to bring Chavo in to see a vet you could try calling your vet and see if they can recommend an over the counter allergy medication that may help. Good luck!
