Why is my friendly cat suddenly growling after visitors left?

I had friends spend the night last night. My normally friendly cat started hissing and growling at them and me. She is still apprehensive and stressed and has continued growling at me after they left. She no longer wants to be in my room. This is an 8.5 year old cat named Blue.
