My dog is unresponsive, drooling, and in pain. What can I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | 8 years old

i need help comforting dog that may have brain tumor/rabies. owner will not put it down, and left me to take care of it when they went to work all night. i think is having, or had some kind of seizure. its body is tense and cant move. its eyes are open and wont stop drooling. is there anyway to comfort or reduce pain of dog. i hope it could just try to sleep, but i fear it is feeling too much stress and pain to sleep. owner said i should leave it that its fine, but dont feel right leavingit

No, it's not fine, it sounds like Harley is suffering. There are no pain medications you can give him that are OTC, and what the owner is doing is animal cruelty. You need to call your local SPCA to get him with him, he cannot be left in this condition. Or you take him into a vet now yourself. Please do that, what is being done to him by refusing him treatment is animal cruelty and the owner could be charged for refusing veterinary treatment for him.
