Puppy's mouth swollen from stick. When should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 26 days old | 20 lbs

The left side of my puppies snout and mouth is swollen. She was playing with a stick outside but thats the only foreign object shes had. She is still eating and playing perfectly fine but it does seem to cause pain when we touch it.

She may have cut or scraped the inside of her mouth and may even have a piece to the stick stuck in there. Try to get a look in her mouth without struggling with her too much and making her afraid. If you see something and you can get to it, try to get it out but don't get yourself bitten. If her swelling doesn't improve or gets worse by tomorrow, get her in to see your vet as soon as you can so her mouth doesn't get infected.
