Why is my puppy biting his skin? Is it an infection or something else?

This looks like it could be a very mild skin infection or what is sometimes called puppy pyoderma. It's similar to acne in people and most puppies will have a mild case and outgrow it. It could also be a small abrasion or bite from and insect or other pet. Keep an eye on it and you may consider bathing him with a mild, oatmeal based puppy shampoo to help soothe his skin. If the area spreads, gets red, starts oozing, or if your puppy has any other adverse symptoms, get him in to see your vet.

    I don't think it is a bite but, of course, it could be. There are rare few diagnoses we can make just based on a photo. This is an obvious skin infection/inflammation but the underlying cause....I don't know. I suggest you keep him on the antibiotics and if he still does not seem right then call your vet. This does look very serious.
