Why is my puppy biting his skin? Is it an infection or something else?

This looks like it could be a very mild skin infection or what is sometimes called puppy pyoderma. It's similar to acne in people and most puppies will have a mild case and outgrow it. It could also be a small abrasion or bite from and insect or other pet. Keep an eye on it and you may consider bathing him with a mild, oatmeal based puppy shampoo to help soothe his skin. If the area spreads, gets red, starts oozing, or if your puppy has any other adverse symptoms, get him in to see your vet.

    I don't think it is a bite but, of course, it could be. There are rare few diagnoses we can make just based on a photo. This is an obvious skin infection/inflammation but the underlying cause....I don't know. I suggest you keep him on the antibiotics and if he still does not seem right then call your vet. This does look very serious.

It may be insect bites, it may be a condition common in puppies called puppy pyoderma, or it could be another skin infection. Puppy pyoderma is roughly equivalent to acne in people. Many dogs get it as puppies, most of them outgrow it in a few months without needing any kind of treatment but sometimes it gets bad enough that it needs to be treated, just like some people. If it continues to worsen, get him back in to see your vet and see if Leo needs to get medicated baths and/or some medication to help him clear up his skin.

The area on the side of his face looks like it has a bacterial infection causing the raised bumps. Your puppy should see your veterinarian to determine if this is the case. They may also want to do a skin scraping to look for any skin mites that may have started the problem. It looks like your pup will need prescription antibiotics to resolve this problem.

Please tell me solution of this problem
From what I can tell from the photo, this looks like a skin infection common to puppies called pyoderma. It is similar to acne in humans and some cases are more severe than others. I recommend getting it checked by your vet to make sure it isn't something more serious and she will probably need antibiotics to help her heal fast. Most dogs outgrow it as they get older.

I have a cross breed (German Shepherd & Labrador) 7 month old puppy. He has got some red pimple/bump around his neck and forehead. He also loose some hair from the forehead. The pimple/bump pop automatically and leave blood clot around it and new one
It looks like Bruno has a skin infection. Parasites like mites and fleas can cause irritation of the skin that can lead to bacterial infections. If he has not had skin scrapings performed to look for mites, that would be my recommendation. If there are no mites, and he has been treated for fleas, then perhaps the topical medications he is on are not enough, and he needs an oral antibiotic to control the infection. I hope this helps. What kind of skin infection is this ? does it have to do something with his milk?
I do not think it has anything to do with milk. It looks like a bacterial infection although I cannot tell 100% what is going on just from a photo. It could be any number of skin conditions as many look the same. I suggest you get some of this shampoo and bathe him in it every 2-3 days until the skin looks better. http://www.petwarehouse.ph/mycocide-anti-fungal-antibacterial-150ml-dog-cat-medicated-shampoo.html?search_query=medicated&results=3 Apply the shampoo, let it sit 10 minutes and then rinse thoroughly. If this does not help you will need to get him to your vet for an exam. The 10 minute contact time is very important for the medication to work. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Hi. I have a 17week old French bulldog hos stomach had flared up it keeps happening and hes very itchy all under his arms etc..
He may have a condition called puppy pyoderma that is roughly equivalent to acne in humans. They usually will outgrow it over time but some get it worse than others and need some medications and possibly therapeutic baths to help them get over it. I suggest getting him seen by your vet to make sure that's what is going on or if he has some other kind of skin condition that may require different treatment. Your vet will do an exam, possibly collect some cells for examination under the microscope and based on these result will be better able to tell you what is going on and how best to treat it.

My dog has some infections i dont know how to specify it plz help me the way to treat it
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Thanks for the pictures. It appears as though Sparky may have a bacterial skin infection, or puppy pyoderma. A lot of times puppy pyoderma resolves on it's own. If it gets worse than this I would recommend taking Sparky to the Vet to be evaluated and prescribed oral antibiotics. It all started with one white dimple,my vet said it was ok and that it will go away on its own, the first one started to dry out but more came should i be worried about? Its been going on for like 3 weeks since the first small one.Thank you
Those look like a skin infection called pyoderma which is really common in puppies , especially pugs. Since it seems to be getting worse you may want to have him evaluated by your veterinarian again. We have new born pups (Cains terrier x Chinese crested, have little red bumps/blisters and scabs on tails, feet, face, back and a little on the eye
Depending on the age of the pups there could be several things going on. Commonly puppies can get skin infections or an infection from a skin mite called demodex. The scabs could also be caused from the puppies playing and nipping at each other. I would recommend taking the pups in to be evaluated by a vet so an infection can be ruled out. If they do have an infection they will likely need some antibiotics to help clear it up since their immune system has not fully developed.
