Can I get a refill for my cat's prescription food without a vet exam?

My vet is saying she won’t give my cat his Royal Canin SO prescription without being seen. He’s been on this medication for 6 years for crystals. We saw her last year for shots and she never mentioned it. I can’t get him there for a number of reasons, is their anyway I can get a vet to send him a prescription for his food? Thank you. Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 11 years and 4 months old | 19 lbs
