Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua (Smooth Coat) | Male | neutered | 11 years and 1 month old | 4 lbs
I just left the hospital with my 11 y/o chihuahua today for a dislocated knee, and on the ride back noticed that he has a new dark spot on his neck. I noticed because his hair was floofed out more than usual. It is the texture of like a soft swollen irritation. It’s a dark rust color/almost black in some spots and the size of a half dollar (on a teacup chihuahua it seems quite large. What type of bump like that grown so quickly? Could it be an allergic reaction to something at the vet hospital?

Hello there, Did Casanova have blood drawn today while he was there? This could be a completely normal bruise from a common blood draw site. Another possibility is an insect sting to cause small swelling like this. It is difficult to appreciate the swelling and color changes from the picture, as many light furred pets have dark skin and this can be normal. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
