Is dog Diazepam the same as human Anxicalm or Alprazolam medication?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I’ve taken a sedative that was meant for my dog that passed last friday. The vet told me is was disazapam to keep her calm. I feel fine but actually a little nervous. I take an anxicalm for back spasms from time to time. It may be that the tablet is identical. Is it basically the same ‘medication?

Anxicalm is the generic form of Alprazolam. It is in the same drug class (benzodiazepines) as Diazepam, but it is not the same drug. To be safe, you should contact your physician or the local ER to confirm there will be no ill effects. Legally, we are prohibited from providing medical advice for humans.
