My cat has explosive bloody diarrhea. What to do on a Saturday night?

My 6lb cat started having diarrhea today. Then she had explosive diarrhea with a few dots of fresh blood. It’s Saturday night and I need to know what to do.

Poor Chianna! I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps. Feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, you keep seeing blood in her poop, she vomits the bland diet, she refuses to eat the bland diet, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, if she has bloody poop while food is withheld, she refuses to eat the bland diet, she starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. You aren't disturbing as at all! This is what we are here for :-) Is that diarrhea? I can give you a home remedy for Kiko to see if that helps. You can help her get through this by feeding bland food (i.e. boneless cooked chicken). Feed small portions (1 tablespoon or less) at meal time. You can also add probiotics to the food (can get this at the pet store), which has demonstrated some efficacy for improving diarrhea. Ensure fresh, clean water is always available. Blood in diarrhea is always concerning, so she should definitely go to the vet as soon as possible. I hope this helps and Simba gets better soon.

I'm sorry to hear that Casper has had so much diarrhea lately! Yes, it is certainly possible that the stress of his visitor coupled with his ingestion of the other cat's food and treats could have caused some gastroenteritis (inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract), which led to diarrhea. A bit of blood can occur in the stool as a result of irritation to the colon. If Casper is still eating, drinking and acting relatively normally, you can try a home remedy. Start by withholding food for 24 hours, then offer a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken for a few days before gradually mixing his normal food with the boiled chicken over another 5-7 days. If at any point Casper becomes lethargic, starts vomiting, has profuse bloody diarrhea, or stops eating, he will need to take a trip to the vet for further evaluation. HI, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Deja! There are many causes for diarrhea: food change, parasite, underlying intestinal inflammation, pancreatitis, viruses, metabolic conditions. The blood indicated inflammation in the colon and usually indicated the need for antibiotics. You could try a probiotic in the mean time or call your Vet and see if they can recommend a prescription bland diet to try until you can get her in to see them! I like Purina fortiflora Good luck!
